Experience

Alfaro joined the firm in 2007.

He is a member of the Intellectual Property practice group. His professional practice focuses particularly on counseling, management, maintenance and protection of patents, trademarks, service marks, trade names, commercial names, advertising signs and any other distinctive signs in Guatemala, as well as ensuring the effective enforcement of intellectual property rights.

His expertise lies in helping clients identify, protect and leverage the value of their intellectual assets by developing a unique course of action for each case.

  • Attorney-At-Law and Notary, Degree in Justice, Juridical and Social Sciences, Panamericana University, 2013
  • Master’s Degree in Policy and Communication, Panamericana University, 2017
  • Postgraduate studies in Intellectual Property, University of San Carlos de Guatemala and the Commercial Law Institute, 2017
  • He has attended courses in the areas of Marketing (Rafael Landívar University - 2011); Intellectual Property (Inter-American Intellectual Property Association - 2008); Notarial Law (Guatemalan Notarial Law Institute - 2007); Legal English (Rafael Landívar University - 2006); Alternative Dispute Resolution (Guatemalan Industrial Chamber - 2005) and Human Rights (Rafael Landívar University - 2003 and 2004).
  • He has participated in workshops such as: "The Implementation of the Trademark Law Treaty (TLT) and the Amendments to the Industrial Property Law" (Guatemalan Chamber of Intellectual Property - 2016); “Case Law and International Treaties on Intellectual Property” (IURISTEC - 2016); and “Trademark Law in National Case Law” (IURISTEC - 2015).
  • He is part of the teaching faculty of the Industrial Design Degree of the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Rafael Landívar University.
