Trabajemos por un futuro libre de violencia en contra de todas las mujeres

#FreshStartMonday

Welcome to #FreshStartMonday!

Violence against girls, adolescents and women is one of the most widespread, persistent, and devastating human rights violations in the modern world, which is barely reported due to the impunity enjoyed by the perpetrators, the silence, stigmatization, and shame suffered by the victims..

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was commemorated on November 25th. Even though Guatemala has had a Law against Femicide since 2008, and a series of regulations in this matter, these crimes maintain alarming figures. So far in 2022, the Women's Observatory of the Public Prosecutor's Office has registered the following complaints nationwide in Guatemala:

These add up to almost 150,000 complaints in less than a year.

Violence against women remains an obstacle to achieving equality, development, and peace, as well as respect for the human rights of women and girls. The central promise of theSDGsf the United Nations calls on us to commit ourselves to ensuring that no one is left behind. However, this cannot be achieved without first putting an end to violence against women and girls.

At Carillo & Asociados, we reiterate our commitment to be an organization free of violence and to work to transform the reality of women and girls to build a culture of peace, respect, and development.
