We celebrate the World Intellectual Property <\/strong>(IP) Day on April 26. In commemoration, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) held its celebrations around the \"Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity\" subject.

The Guatemalan Chamber of Intellectual Property, to which Carrillo & Asociados is affiliated, celebrated this day by dedicating a space to art. The event began with a masterful dissertation by Jos\u00e9 Mario Maza Ponce, an Architect and Museologist, who highlighted the value of women in the history of Guatemalan art and reviewed the role, work, and life of some artists. Today, we want to join in the celebration of the trajectory of some of them.

Delfina Luna emerged on the scene in the 19th century. Among her emblematic works, she painted the images of the evangelists Saint John and Saint Matthew, which are currently exhibited at the La Merced Church. The renovation of a portrait of Pedro de Alvarado in 1854 is attributed to her.

Antonia Clementina Matos Aycinena was born in 1910. She was an artist of the famous 20s Generation. She won third place at the Olympic Art Competition in 1932, even though the International Olympic Committee did not recognize Guatemala's participation because there was no local institution that endorsed athletes or artists at that time. She studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Guatemala and at the \u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure de Beaux-Arts in Paris, France.

Margarita Azurdia emerged in the 1960s. She is described as a multi-faceted artist. She excelled as a painter, sculptor, performer<\/em> , and poet. Her work delighted audiences recently at the Reina Sof\u00eda Museum in Madrid, Spain.

Finally, Lourdes de la Riva, a current artist, has focused her work on demonstrating the imprint of human activity on nature (and vice versa), highlighting the consequences of a close but not always fair relationship.

The journey of women in Guatemalan art needs to be more valued and appreciated. <\/strong>This short list may serve to arouse curiosity about the magnificence that exists behind each work.
