Mr. Alegria’s expertise and versatility involves a wide range of specialized practice areas, from complex dispute resolution to high-end project finance matters.
He has advised important multinational corporations, and multilateral entities in corporate and finance matters. He has also participated in complex M&A activity in the Central American region, and large transactions as well.
In the area of Project Finance, he has assessed many international financial institutions in the negotiation of loans and implementation of financial instruments.
He has been recognized as an expert in energy and natural resources matters in Guatemala. He has represented important groups related to the energy sector, as Director, across the Central American Region.
Additionally, he contributes to the Litigation Practice Group by having experience in international arbitrations and has participated as expert witness in an international level.

Mr. Alegria joined the firm Beltranena, De la Cerda y Chavez in 2004, thus joining Carrillo y Asociados through the merger of both firms in 2009 as partner and head of the Taxes, Labour, Regulatory Law, Telecommunications, Energy, and Commercial Law Practice Group.
He is a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Electrification Institute (INDE), and head counsel of the National Independent Co-generators Association.
He is also a former Professor of Economic Law at Francisco Marroquin University in Guatemala, and has participated as legal advisor and Board Member to many renown local associations.
